Studio 2 photography shoot…
2 days ago I did a photo shoot with the presenters of the kids TV show Studio 2 Live.
It was a fun shoot and a chance to play around and get some funky shots. My personal favourite is Matts green suited robot impersonation.
The last 2 nights I have been filming the show ‘Noise Control’ for tv3. It has been a strange 2 nights with a few people being quite violent. I am thinking it is due to the recent full moon as it always makes people a little crazy. It has also been a very quiet 2 nights as it feels like most of Auckland city has escaped for the Easter weekend. With that, my shoot tonight has been canceled so that gives me the opportunity to catch up with my parents and my sister Tania and her husband Andrew for dinner, looking forward to it…… but, before I do that, I have to do the final touches to a wedding video I shot and copy the DVD’s. My DVD drive is not working properly so have to sort through a problem solving list to get it going again…. probably something very simple which my simple mind can’t work out.

2010 so far….
Where do I begin……. In December last year I was offered the job with Red Handed TV filming the Monsoon Cup in Malaysia again. Had an amazing time and got to see a little more of the culture this year as I got to film colorful stories capturing the spirit of Kuala Terranganu. The people are beautiful and so friendly there and I look forward to doing another shoot there at the end of this year.
After Malaysia I traveled to Thailand to visit Tai and her family and to watch Tai Graduate from University. The heat of the sun and humidity was scorching and poor Tai and all the other 6000+ students had to sit inside a huge hall with no air con or water for over 6 hours! I was lucky as I just chilled outside taking photos of the event. The thing I love about the Thai people is that they are so generous and warm hearted. You really get a sense of togetherness in most parts of Thailand. The younger students really respected their elders and I believe you can see that in some of the photos I got:
This year has kicked of to a very good start…. I can’t believe it is April already! For the first 7 weeks of the year Tai came to visit me and my family in Auckland. We had an amazing time traveling around NZ. Tai enjoys the beautiful South Island:
Tai had a one month visa so unfortunately had to go back to Thailand in January leaving me to get back in to work again. The first job up was filming a wedding for my mate Hamish. It was a beautiful day:
Next it was on to a wide range of different freelance jobs filming with Project Litefoot, Star Jam, TVNZ, Bunker Media, Web-Vision and the NZ Warriors. We finished off filming for ‘Last Flight’, a short film based on Mars and shot on a number of different locations from White Island, Bethalls beach, Sunset Studios, Port Waikato, Western springs park and who could forget the Tongariro Crossing! I am confident that the film will look like Mars and may be a good watch. Here are a couple of stills from the shoot:
Tracey, an old friend from high school asked me to film her wedding. Here are a couple of stills from yet another beautiful wedding:
Since then I was contacted by Eric at SPVP (South Pacific Video Productions) to film a show about Noise Control. So over the last few months I have been doing night shifts following a few officers around. I must admit, that although I am not too keen on the hours we work, I really really enjoy working with the officers and Erica the director. The officers are a lot of fun and Erica is probably one of the most on to it directors I have worked with yet.
As well as doing Noise Control I worked on the Louis Vuitton Trophy 2010 in March. I had the honor of working with Mike Single, a very well regarded natural history cameraman. He was up in Auckland to shoot some 3D promo footage for ARL ltd. The amount I learned from Mike by just helping him out for 3 days was amazing. Some of the stuff he produced is unbelievable and watching the footage in 3D is just stunning! It gave me a 3D bug that’s for sure. I had the opportunity to try out the 3D camera’s for myself and went around town capturing images that may be good in 3D. Some of the shots look unbelievable and it was a great thrill seeing some of your work in 3D! will definately look into buying the new panasonic 3D camera once it is released in NZ.
Well, Noise Control raps up soon so I will be moving on to other shows. It has been a year of amazing job offers so far and is shaping up to be the best year of my career so far. I am very excited.
lance out.
